    When and Where

    On April 1, 2022 join Red Dog Events on one of Utah’s most beautiful courses. Just 11 miles outside of Hurricane on HWY 59, the course starts from Ruby Rider Ranch located in Apple Valley and continues down Smithsonian Butte Backcountry Byway.

    Course Decription

    Zion cliffs stretch for miles, juniper trees and cacti, and if you’re lucky enough a random deer or coyote are what you can expect to see on this breath-taking backcountry road. Both the 10k & 5k routes leave from Ruby Rider Ranch located at the Gooseberry Mesa turn-off then follow the Smithsonian Butte Scenic Byway towards Rockville. The routes are both out & back and share some of the best backcountry views of Zion National Park.

    Beyond the beauty of the run there’s so much more to see and do here in southern Utah. Run The Mesa is located right in the middle of southern Utah’s best outdoor opportunities!  Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon State Park and Sand Hollow reservoir are just a few of the amazing places you and your family can begin to explore while here for your adventure.

    St. George Triathlon at the Sand Hallow Aquatic Center

    April 15th, 2023

     

    This fun event puts your running, biking, and swimming abilities to the test! If you’ve ever thought of doing a Triathlon before, this is your time to do it! Starting and ending at the SHAC, this course will take you around the neighbors surrounding the aquatic center.

    Event Information:

    Start Times (Swim):

    • Sprint – 9:00am
    • Beginner – 11:00am
    • Kids – 12:00pm

    Swim Course:

    The swim will be in the SHAC indoor pool. The swim will take place in heats of approximately 20 racers. There will be two people in each full sized lane. The Sprint distance will start first at 9:00 am, followed by the beginner distance at 11:00 am, and the kid’s distance at 12:00 pm. The pool temperature will be between 81 – 84 degrees.

    Bike Course:

    Riders will leave the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center and take a right onto 2400 West. They will turn right onto 2000 N before turning right again on Tuweap Drive. Riders will take Tuweap Drive to Sunset Blvd. Where they will again take a right before heading back to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center (SHAC). Beginner distance will ride the course twice while sprint will ride the course four times. Riders must wear a bike helmet or they will not be allowed to participate.

    Run Course:

    The running course is an out and back 1 and 1/2 mile loop. It will follow the bike path North of the pool and East of Lava Flow Drive. One “lap” for the beginner distance; two “laps” for the sprint distance. There will be aid stations at the transition area and the run turn-arounds.

     

    There will be a team relay option for the sprint division only. Team relay can consist of up to 3 athletes, each completing one of the disciplines. Open Men, Open Women, and Mixed divisions available for the relay. Top 3 teams in each of these divisions will receive awards.

     

    Medals: All finishers receive a finisher medal! The sprint races will have awards in each age division set in 10 year age gaps.

    Swim

    • Beginner = 8 Lengths (200m)
    • Sprint and Team = 16 Lengths (400m)
    • Kids Beginner = 2 Lengths (50m)
    • Kids Sprint = 4 Lengths (100m)

    Bike

    • Beginner = 2 Loops (6 Miles)
    • Sprint and Team = 4 Loops (12 Miles)
    • Kids Beginner = 1 Mile (1/2 mile out and back)
    • Kids Sprint = = 2 Miles (1 mile out and back)

    • Beginner = 1 Loop (1.5 Miles)
    • Sprint and Team = 2 Loops (3 Miles)

    Southern Utah Half Marathon

    Start: Highland Park, Washington, UT

    End: Bloomington Park, St. George, UT

    Brief Description: The Southern Utah Half Marathon is a beautiful route starting at Highland Park in Washington,UT offering amazing views of the sun rising over Zions National Park in the distance. The race will proceed quickly downhill through City of Washington to the scenic Virgin River Trail.  This paved trail offers a gradual decline grade for the remaining 9 miles of the race.

    Packet Pick-up: Packet Pick-up will be at the St George Running center (2736 E Red Cliffs Dr #5, St George Utah 84790) on Thursday 4/20 from 2-7pm and also Friday 4/21 from 2-7pm.

    The St. George Running Center will also be open during packet pick-up so you are welcome to come in and shop.

    IMPORTANT: There will be NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP.

    Starting Line: The starting line will be at the top of Highland Pkwy, about 200 yards above the homes on Crown King Ave.  There will also be porta potties and pre-race water at the starting line, and will be staged in the parking area on the North end of the park.

    Race participants will be bused from the finish line at Bloomington Park, St. George to the starting line at Highland Park, Washington . Bus drop off and turn around will take place where Highland Pkwy meets Crown King Ave right next to the lower parking area at Highland Park.

    Race Start & Pacers:

    Race Start promptly at 7am.

    American Flyers Race Pacers will be at the start to help with your race pace objectives!  Seed yourselves according the American Flyers pace signs.

    FINISH LINE: The race will finish at the Bloomington Park in St. George.  As runners come across the Man of War bridge they will take an immediate left onto the walkway.  As you come into the finish line volunteers will hand you your medal and refreshments.  Please remember to keep your distance as you rest on the grass from your event.

    Awards Ceremony:  There will overall awards for the top 5 men and women.  Top three age group awards will be provide. Categories are listed below.

    Awards Ceremony will be at approximately 10am.

    AID STATIONS:  Aid stations at miles: 2.25,  4,  6,  8.5,  10.5,  11.75.  Each aid station will provide the runners with water and Gatorade.  Aid Stations 6 & 10.5 will also offer GU. Aid Stations 4, 6 and 10.5 will also have porta potties.   As you come into the aid stations please do your best to keep moving and maintain a social distance.

    PARKING:  Parking will be available at the Bloomington Park and Bloomington Elementary School. No Parking on Man of War rd.  There is also NO parking at Highland Park, where the event start is located. Please ride the shuttles.

    TRANSPORTATION to Start:  Buses will leave to take runners from Bloomington Park between 5:45 am and 6:15am to take you to the start line at Highland Park in Washington.  

    Be sure to arrive early to Bloomington Park to ride the shuttle to the race start.  Last year, because of the Pandemic, we gave the option to drop off participants at the start.  This year, we are asking everyone join us on the shuttles.  Highland Park is small and cannot accommodate many vehicles. The road to Highland Park will be close to traffic from 6:30am-7:15am, so you may as well ride the shuttle. Masks are optional.

    If you still need someone else drop you off at the starting line (Map to starting line at Highland Park), you may, but it is discouraged. Just make sure you are dropped off by 6:30 am and avoid the buses. If you arrive after 6:30 am you will not be able to get into the neighborhood and will need to walk/run up from Telegraph Dr. which is about a mile to the start.  There will be NO PARKING in the neighborhood or along Highland Dr. 

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    All participants receive a sweet tri-blend shirt

    Buses will provide transportation from Finish Line, Bloomington Park to the starting line

    Finisher medals will be given to those who complete the course in less than 4:00 hours

    Awards to the top 3 in each age division in the half marathon

    Ragnar Trail Zion, the trail relay that inspired the entire series is back! Grab your most adventurous friends and join us May 12-13, 2023 to run, relay-style, over two days and one star-filled night! Your team will set up camp at Zion Ponderosa Ranch, a hidden gem just outside of Zion National Park. This venue features amenities like a pool, hot tubs, showers, a rock climbing wall and restrooms.

    Join us a day earlier, on Thursday, for a full blown 3-day weekend desert adventure. On Friday, the real fun begins as teams of 8 (or 4) cycle through a series of three challenging trail loops that start and finish at Ragnar Village.

    You’ll run through sweet summer sage, under towering ancient pines and across red dirt trails that take you up (and up!) to some expansive overlooks including Dixie National Forest, Cedar Breaks, and Zion National Park’s famous “Checkerboard Mesa.”

    When the sun sets the party keeps going as runners head to the trails in the dark for a spirit-quest, soul-searching, star-fueled night of running where the real memories are made.

    The race wraps up Saturday where you can finish together under the Ragnar arch and celebrate with the best medal ever.

    UTAH YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD

    Hello and welcome to the Utah Youth Track and Field Meet! This meet is open to residents of Iron, Garfield, Kane, San Juan, Wayne, Piute, Emery, Grand, Sevier and Washington Counties. This meet will serve as the district meet and will be a qualifier for the State youth meet. The date for the State meet is tentatively set for June 2022. This is a fun and competitive Track and Field meet for ages 7-15. As per USA Track and Field rules, age groups are based on birthdays in the following years. Participants will be disqualified if they are registered for the wrong age group, so please pay carful attention when signing up your athlete

    • Ages 7 to 8 (born 2015 – 2014)
    • Ages 9 to 10 (born 2013 – 2012)
    • Ages 11 to 12 (born 2011 – 2010)
    • Ages 13 to 15 (born 2009 – 2007)

    Please note that ages 7-10 will be competing in the standing long jump and soft ball throw. While 11-15 will be competing in the running long jump and shot put. The use of spikes and blocks will not be permitted during this meet or the state meet. Events will be: Standing Long Jump / Long Jump / Softball Throw /  Shot Put /  50m / 100m / 200m / 400m / 800m / 1600m / 4x100m/ 4×400 Relay

    Athletes will be limited to competing in only 3 events, which will not include the 4×100 or 4×400 relay. Teams will be able to sign up together for the 4×400 or 4×400 morning of the event.

    Registration will close at 11:59 PM MST on Friday May 20th 2022. All athletes must register online to participate in their event. Registration will not be available at the event or after registration is closed.

    The St. George City Police Department is hosting their 2nd Annual 10k, 5k, and 1k! This is a Cops and Robbers themed event. When you register you can choose to be Team Cop or Team Robber. The Robbers team will be given a head start before the Cops chase after them. This is a timed race and your time will start once you cross the start line no matter what team you choose. Each team will be given a unique shirt and custom swag item depending on if you choose Team Cop or Team Robber.

    St. George Races and the St. George Firefighter’s Association are joining forces to make one of the coolest races in town! This year’s Moonlight 5k will take place at Desert Color development off of the Southern Parkway. You’ll get to see what is happening there and following the race we’ll have a very cool pool party at the Desert Color pool. Throughout the course, the St. George Firefighters will have their Fire Trucks out spraying runners with water as they pass by.

    A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Utah Burn Center and the St. George Fire Fighters Association.
